On a final commitment in 2017 and on my late train journey towards home and another night in a hotel, I reflected on a meeting I had just left. The ‘power’ of the conversation I had been party to was my significant recollection.
We had presented our analysis and proposals. We’d got insight to inform this. We had debated and discussed some key issues. Passion and emotions had run high. Yet they were necessary as they informed and shaped our proposals … what we thought were THE solutions. We needed a re-think. What we thought were the solutions, we hadn’t quite got there. We needed to remain on the journey!
People engagement is key. That ‘conversation’ – a steering group – had demonstrated the ‘power’ of engaging with people to reach solutions. So, I begin a new year with deliberate intent … consciously monitoring my drive to reach solutions balanced with proactively engaging with others to reach solutions. Sometimes the journey takes a little longer yet it is worth the wait.
Happy New Year #2018 ????
